Local Scholarship List

PLEASE BE AWARE that some of these deadlines are APPROXIMATE, as many of these organizations have not yet released their 2027 information.  You MUST check the deadline as it gets closer.  Most organizations use the same application from year to year, but some change parts of their application.  Please check for updated versions of the applications in the spring.

 

● Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship

Deadline:  November 12

Amount:  Varies.  Same application may also make you eligible at the state and national level.

Requirements:  High school senior and U.S. citizen.  Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.

● The Crofut Memorial College Scholarship Fund

Deadline:  March 3 

Amount:  TBD

Requirements:  Be a resident of Arlington, Sunderland, or Sandgate; good scholarship, citizenship, character, leadership; made contributions to AMHS and the Arlington community; 3.0 GPA or higher; clear criminal record.

● Rutland Area Medical Community Scholarship

Deadline:  April 1 

Amount:  $4,000

Requirements:  Acceptance into an academic program in the healthcare field

● Trust for Wildlife Biodiversity Scholarship

Deadline:  April 1 

Amount:  $2,000 ($1,000 for each semester of your first year of school)

Requirements:  Seeking an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in the field of Applied Science, including biology, marine biology, botany, environmental studies, forestry, wildlife management, or related fields.  Plan to attend college full-time.  Demonstrate school/community involvement/service specifically related to preserving and/or conserving the environment.

● Stratton Community Foundation Four-Year College Scholarship

Deadline:  April 6

Amount:  $3,000 per year.  Four-year scholarship (with documentation) - total possible: $12,000.

Requirements: Must qualify for free or reduced lunch or other fee waivers, demonstrate academic achievement, have a teacher recommendation, be planning to attend a four-year accredited college full-time, and reside within the Stratton Foundation area.

● Daniel Maneely Scholarship Fund

Deadline:  April 10

Amount:  to be determined

Requirements: Must have been accepted into college in an Engineering Technology field.  There will be a required interview.

● Battenkill Valley Aerie #2551 Fraternal Order of Eagles

Deadline:  April 13 

Amount:  to be determined

Requirements: Planning to attend a college, trade school, etc.  Factors taken into consideration include community participation, drive, commitment, excellence, leadership, and responsibility.

● Federated Church Scholarship

Deadline:  April 15

Amount:  to be determined

Requirements:  All AMHS seniors are eligible to apply. Applicant is chosen based on achievement, community service, educational goals, and financial need.

● Lenczowski Memorial Scholarship (Knights of Columbus)

Deadline:  April 15 

Amount:  $2,000 minimum

Requirements:  Your family must be registered members of a Catholic parish. You must be planning to attend a college or trade school.

● Bennington Rotary Club Scholarship

Deadline:  April 17 

Amount:  $1,000

Requirements: Planning to attend a technical college or accredited trade school.  Good character and community service.

● Miles Lumber Company Scholarship

Deadline:  April 29

Amount:  $500 (awarded to two seniors)

Requirements:  GPA of 80 or higher, extra-curricular activities, community service

● Apex Wealth Management Pursue Your Dreams Scholarship

Deadline:  April 29

Amount:  $2,500

Requirements: Open to ALL AMHS seniors. NOT based on academics. For students pursuing a wide range of options after high school. Based on “character, direction, and an unwavering desire to grow.” The application says that they “are looking to support experiences that change perspectives and open minds, encourage a greater understanding of diversity and applicants interested in making the world and our community better.” They will “focus on providing opportunities for those that would not otherwise have access.”

● Arlington Garden Club Scholarship

Deadline:  April 29 

Amount:  $1,000

Requirements:  Preference is given to students seeking further education in an environmental field, but anyone may apply.

● Stratton Community Foundation Two-Year Trade Scholarship (and Associate’s Degree)

Deadline:  Accepted on a rolling basis until April 30

Amount: $3,000 per year for up to two years - total possible: $6,000.

Requirements: Demonstrate a commitment to a trade, and be in need of schooling to enter the desired field. Funds can be used for tuition, gear, tools, proper clothing, etc.

● VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) – Philip Kelleher and John West Scholarships

Deadline:  April 30

Requirements:  All students are eligible.

● Rotary Club of Manchester

Deadline:  April 30

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  2.5+ GPA (80).  Character, effort, academics, community service, and financial need.

● Scott Thomas Memorial Scholarship

Deadline:  April 30

Amount:  to be determined

Requirements:  Student must be planning to attend a tech or trade school, or other job training.

● Jack Quinn / Batten Kill Valley Runners

Deadline:  April 30 

Amount:  TBA

Requirements:  Academic achievement, extracurricular activities,  community service, running achievements/contribution to running.

● Arlington Lions Club Community Service Award

Deadline:  April 30 

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Reside in Arlington, Sandgate, or Sunderland, demonstrate leadership skills and good citizenship, demonstrate an active commitment to community service activities through volunteer hours and projects.

● Arlington Lions Club Visual Art Award

Deadline:  April 30 

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Reside in Arlington, Sandgate, or Sunderland, plan to attend four-year accredited institution for visual arts, demonstrate artistic talent and academic achievement, submit a portfolio showcasing technical skills, originality, and artistic vision.

● Arlington Lions Club Vocational-Technical Education Award

Deadline:  April 30 

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Reside in Arlington, Sandgate, or Sunderland, be enrolled in or planning to enroll in an accredited or licensed vocational or trade school program, demonstrate good academic standing, show a positive attitude toward learning and a willingness to take on challenges.

● John Werner Soccer Scholarship

Deadline:  May 1

Amount:  $100 awarded to one girl and one boy.

Requirements:  Student must have played varsity soccer at AMHS and have shown a strong work ethic, academic success and good sportsmanship.  The student does NOT have to play soccer in college.

● Red Mountain Lodge #63 F&AM

Deadline:  May 1

Amount:  $1,000 if awarded to one student;  $500 if awarded to two students.

Requirements:  Any student who has not already received a full scholarship is eligible to apply.

● William H. Burrington Scholarship / Bennington County Farm Bureau

Deadline:  May 1

Amount:  TBA

Requirements:  Student must reside in Bennington County and have been accepted at a college or other school to study agriculture, forestry, agronomy, or an environmental program.

● Arlington Nursing Service Memorial Scholarship

Deadline:  May 1 

Amount:  $2,000 for each year of study

Requirements:  Be a resident of Arlington, Sunderland, or Sandgate and be seeking further education in nursing or another health related field.

● Resourceful Recycling Clean Up Services Scholarship

Deadline:  May 14

Amount:  $250

Requirements:  Must be pursuing further education in a field related to science and/or the environment.

● Delta Kappa Gamma Scholarship 

Deadline:  May 14 at NOON

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Students must be majoring in education and planning to become a teacher.

● Paul LaFountain American Legion Post #69 (Arlington)     

Deadline:  May 15

Amount:  to be determined

Requirements: Applicants must be continuing their education in college or trade school.

● Prospect Rehabilitation Scholarship

Deadline:  May 15 

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Planning to attend a four-year college to prepare for a career in a healthcare field.

● Arlington Rescue Squad John Hannon Memorial Scholarship

Deadline:  May 16 

Amount:  $250

Requirements:  Student must be pursuing further education in a medical field.

● Queer Connect Scholarship

Deadline:  May 24

Amount:  $500

Requirements:  Must be a senior planning to attend a post-secondary school/college or trade/apprenticeship program in the fall of 2025.

● PFLAG Dorset Scholarship

Deadline:  June 1 at 5:00 p.m.

Amount:  $1,008

Requirements:  This scholarship is for LGBTQI+ students and allies.  Funds must be used for post-secondary education, technical education, a gap-year project, or to spread queer positivity.
