Between now and April, all middle school students will be will be participating in career or self-exploration workshopsthrough the guidance office. 6th and 8th graders will be completing an online career interest inventory and participating in a discussion of how to get information about careers that relate to their interests. 7th graders will be taking a survey that helps them better understand their own personal learning style. The results of these inventories will be saved for them to reflect on when they work on their Personalized Learning Plans.
For Grades 9-12
Enrichment Program deadline approaching!!! The Governor's Institutes of Vermont Winter Weekend enrichment program deadline is January 16. This program is open to high school students and is a fun, intensive way to learn about something new. There are two available sessions: Feb. 10-12 and Feb. 24-26. Topics to choose from are: Architecture Invention, Animals & Law, Bioinformatics, Social Entrepreneurship, Vocal Performance Masterclass, Youth Leadership, Intermediate Robotics, Advanced Painting & Drawing, Actors' Audition Masterclass, and Astrophotography. The programs are held at Goddard College in Plainfield, VT. Tuition is on a sliding scale based on family income, with the maximum being $295. For Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
The application period for MedQuest 2017 is now open! MedQuest is a six-day summer program that is sponsored by the Southern Vermont Area Health Education Centers. It gives students the opportunity to engage in hands-on exploration of medical careers, and includes a job shadow. The tuition for the program is $500, but some scholarships are available. All juniors have had their individual guidance appointments for post-high school planning, and letters went home describing these meetings. If you did not receive your letter or your student has not shared his/her folder with you, and you would like a copy, please contact the guidance office.
Reminder: All families whose seniors are applying to college should be completing their FAFSA and Vermont Grantfinancial aid applications online. Information about this was mailed home in the fall. Please contact the guidance office if you need help.
