For Sophomores and Juniors
Registration is open for the annual College Pathways program presented by Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC). This is a free conference for students and families that consists of a variety of helpful workshops about the college application process and financial aid. The conference is held at three locations: St. Michael's College on March 19, Castleton University on April 2, and Lyndon State College on April 4. To register for the conference, go to www.vsac.org.
For All Students
Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) and Community College of Vermont (CCV) are partnering to provide a career exploration workshop titled "It's Your Move: Choosing a Career that Works for You" at various locations around the state. For Grades 6 and 7
Any student/family in Grades 6 or 7 who is interested in applying to join the middle school accelerated program next year should contact Ms. Lederer-Barnes in the Guidance Office at 375-2589 x106 or firstname.lastname@example.org by February 26. Information for current 5th graders who wish to apply for the accelerated program will be available at a later date.
For Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors
The Governor's Institutes of Vermont are week-long summer enrichment programs in the areas of Environmental Science & Technology, Mathematical Sciences, Current Issues & Youth Activism, Engineering, Arts, Information Technology & Digital Media, Entrepreneurship, Asian Cultures, Young Writers, and Astronomy. The fee for these programs is on a sliding scale based on family income. The application is available at www.giv.org and the deadline is March 11 (please note deadline was changed since last email). For Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors
The application period for MedQuest 2016 is now open! MedQuest is a six-day summer program that is sponsored by the Southern Vermont Area Health Education Centers. It gives students the opportunity to engage in hands-on exploration of medical careers, and includes a hospital job shadow. The tuition for the program is $500, but some scholarships are available. The application deadline is March 4. For more information, go to www.svahec.org.
An SAT Prep class is being offered at the Tutorial Center in Manchester. The class starts in March and the cost for the program is $350. For more information, please contact the Tutorial Center at 362-0222.
